Community Review Process
Volunteers are needed to serve on Community Review Teams (CRT) to evaluate funding requests from our non-profit member agencies. This process is fun, interesting, & important! We need a wide variety of volunteers, from CEOs to college students, retirees, homemakers, donors, etc. to assure accountability for our donors’ contributions.
A Community Review Team Volunteer acts as a representative of United Way, its donors, and the community. As such, the volunteer has the opportunity, through an exchange of information, to learn about programs that address health and human service needs in Western Riverside County.
Specific responsibilities of a Community Review Team volunteer include:
- Attend the volunteer orientation.
- Read the written information provided about United Way’s funding policies and priorities, and the evaluation criteria.
- Read carefully the funding applications and related materials, in order to avoid asking questions that have already been answered.
- Attend the site visits and participate constructively in the team meetings.
- Listen carefully and considerately to the Agency’s presentation.
- Respect confidentiality of information presented.
- Complete the assessment and funding recommendations through team consensus.
