| Overview
of Funding to Non-profit Agencies
United Way of the Inland Valleys (UWIV) provides
ongoing funding to agencies that have been evaluated and accepted
as a "United Way Certified (affiliated) Agency." The certification
process is opened to new agencies every two years.
Once approved as a "United Way Certified Agency,"
the first step to receiving funding is to apply for a Priority
Venture Grant. Priority Venture Grants are awarded to programs
that address UWIV identified priority needs, with special
consideration given to programs that target under-served geographic
and ethnic populations. If an agency is awarded a Priority
Venture Grant and successfully fulfills the programs
objectives and outcomes, it may be eligible to apply for ongoing
support through United Ways Base Support Fund. Thereafter,
an annual review is conducted to ensure that the agency and
program(s) continue to meet UWIV standards of accountability.
Other funding opportunities are open to any
non-profit organization through Seed Grants and Special Grants,
which are awarded on a one-time only basis. These grants target
specific identified needs or special populations. They are
generally awarded through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
Notification of funds available occurs though media releases
and agency mailings.
Contact jeannie miley, vice president, community matters, to be notified when united way will consider new agencies for afilliation and/or when grant funds are made available.
