ONE TIME MONEY: A contribution made to United Way as a result of special circumstances for one campaign. In most cases the gift is made in addition to a normally generous annual contribution and will not be repeated in succeeding years.

PARTIAL REPORT: An interim status report of a firm’s campaign submitted on a report form envelope and indicated as "Partial."

PAYROLL GIVING: An opportunity for employees to spread their giving through the year through authorized deductions each pay-day.

PER CAPITA GIFT:

A.) Corporate per capita is determined by dividing the corporate gift by the number of employees in an organization.

B.) Employee gift per capita- the total employee contributions divided by the number of employees in an organization.

PRIORITY VENTURE GRANT (PVG) ROLL-IN: In addition to Base support Funding, agencies can apply for grants to establish new programs. The Community Problem Solving Committee oversees the granting process. Agencies that have been awarded Priority Venture Grants and have successfully met the goals of the grant, can request that the funding be use to establish Base Support, or annual funding, for the program. Their request is to "roll-in PVG funding." The Community Review volunteers evaluate the program along with the others that are receiving funding and recommend whether or not it should receive continued funding.

PROSPECTS: Potential contributors to a campaign who have either given in the past or are considered potential new donors.

RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION: The process by which volunteers review and allocate funding to local agencies and community initiatives.

SINGLE COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN: One unified campaign, managed by the local United Way, to raise funds for health and human care services.

SPECIFIC CARE: An option that allows donors to designate their pledges to specific nonprofit agencies, regardless of their affiliation with United Way of the Inland Valleys. These funds are transmitted separately to agencies as they are collected and are not part of agency allocations or grants.

SYSTEMWIDE COMPANY: A corporation which is headquartered in one community but has divisions in other communities. The United Way where the corporate headquarters are located coordinates the entire campaign.

TARGETED CARE: An option that allows donors to designate their pledges to specific priority needs categories. The Targeted Care categories are determined through United Way’s needs assessment process.

UNITED WAY MISSION: "Building Community Resources to Improve Life in Riverside County."

UNITED WAY OF AMERICA: United Way of America is a trade association that does no fundraising and no fund distribution and requests dues in exchange for services, training and promotional products provided to local United Ways.

YEAR-ROUND PRESENCE: United Way is committed to maintaining high visibility throughout the year through the media, education programs, and involvement with the local community.
