2007 Loaned Executive Program
“Lend a Future Leader”
The value proposition
Welcome to United Way of the Inland Valleys’ Loaned Executive Program - An Investment and Training Opportunity with an Exceptional Return.
Investing and participating in the Loaned Executive Program is an excellent investment for your company, for the "loaned" employee, for UWIV, and, most importantly, for our communities.
Developing Future Leaders
Each year, businesses take advantage of a special community-wide leadership project; the United Way Loaned Executive Program. These selected individuals are "loaned" to UWIV full or half-time from mid-August to mid-November and become part of our Fundraising Team. They develop their potential for leadership while doing something wonderful for the community in the name of their company and United Way. Loaned Executive Training is nationally recognized as a community leadership and asset building tool. The LE program provides our community with the well-informed and trained community leaders of tomorrow!
Loaned Executives come from all areas of the workforce, including upper and middle management, professional and clerical. They serve the community, helping United Way plan and carry out the annual Campaign, but remain employed by the contributing organization.
Everybody Wins
The Loaned Executive Program provides benefits for everyone involved:
Benefits to the Loaned Executive
Loaned Executives bring their expertise, knowledge, and time to assist United Way while gaining valuable experience. The development program enhances and develops valuable sales and account management skills that employees take back to their company:
- Refining skills and gaining new ones, including: public speaking, effective communication, creative thinking, sales, negotiation, project management, new account development, problem solving, team building, group facilitation, organization and time management and presentation skills
- Becoming sensitive to the needs and issues of our communities
- Understanding how various companies operate
- Working closely with key community and business leaders; networking and strengthening relationships throughout the business community
Benefits to the Loaning Organization:
- Loaning companies will be recognized in UWIV campaign publicity
- Loaned Executives receive excellent training provided by guest and staff trainers
- Publicity for the loaning organization in each of the LE’s assigned accounts (“I’m on loan from XYZ company.”)
- The company enhances its marketing efforts through recognition as a sponsor of the Loaned Executive Program; gaining increased visibility and public recognition of their support to the community.
- The LE goes into the account under the name of the United Way and comes out with a relationship that can be taken back to the loaning company
- Employees return with a broader sense of community issues.
Benefits to Loaning Non-Profits:
- It is proposed that agency provided LEs who post an increase in their accounts will be eligible for a portion of the increase to be remanded back to their agency
- Funds raised for the Community Care Fund are available for base funding or other funding opportunities
Benefits to UWIV:
- Minimizes fundraising costs, keeping overhead costs low so more money goes to people who need help
- Maximizes staff efforts
- Develops and implements company campaigns by working with top management and employee campaign coordinators
- LEs allow us to campaign more accounts
- LEs allow us to use Best Practices in more accounts, improving performance – thus raising more dollars to benefit our community!
- Helps raise awareness of pressing community issues
- Engages colleagues in a dialogue about volunteerism, community issues, and personally making a difference in the community in which they live and work
Ideal Candidates Include:
- Up-and-coming executives
- Management trainees
- Proven performers
- Goal oriented sales managers
- Someone the company wants to "immerse" in the community
- New employees
- Employees between assignments
- Retirees
Financial Sponsorship
Companies can also choose to provide financial sponsorship. Your financial investment of $8,000 enables UWIV to hire a qualified individual. If you cannot lend us the expertise from your staff, this is an option worth considering. There are several levels of sponsors*:
(*UWIV cannot accept a sponsorship out of a corporate gift. That raises our administrative costs and reduces what we can allocate to community programs.)
