1st Annual Day of Caring
Saturday, September 8, 2007
Day of Caring was a day that connected volunteers with local nonprofit organizations to complete worthwhile projects that might not have otherwise got done.
Projects ranged from reading to children, adding a fresh coat of paint on the walls of a transitional home, removing graffiti, to planting trees.
Day of Caring provided opportunities to develop long-lasting relationships with colleagues and other community members. But most importantly, Day of Caring volunteers helped to build a stronger community.
Day of Caring was for individuals, family, friends, companies and employees who wanted to work together for something meaningful and lasting for our community.
There were about 650 volunteers and because of the success of this event, we have started plans for next year’s Day of Caring, tentatively scheduled for September 20, 2008. For more information contact United Way of the Inland Valleys at 951.697.4700
