Third annual United We
Stand Parade set for Saturday
Murrieta, CA — (September
2, 2006) The third annual United We Stand Parade will
be Saturday in downtown Murrieta. The parade will commemorate
those who died Sept. 11, 2001 in terrorist attacks, honor local
firefighters, police officers and military veterans and kickoff
the United Way of Inland Valleys' annual fundraising campaign.
The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Murrieta Valley High School
on Washington Avenue and end the Murrieta Community Center
on Juniper Street. It will feature marching bands, floats,
cars and horses. There will also be a ceremony and moment of silence to remember
those who died Sept. 11, 2001.
The parade will be followed by an agency fair, featuring
member agencies of the United Way. There will be activities
for children as well as safety demonstrations and displays.
People can support military troops by bringing packages of
white tube socks that volunteers will pack and ship to Iraq.
