FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
UNITED WAY SEEKING VOLUNTEERS
TO ASSIST IN FUNDING DECISIONS
Riverside, CA — (January 18,
2006) United Way of the Inland Valleys is currently
seeking volunteers to help make critical funding decisions affecting
our community by participating on a Community Review Team.
Each year, United Way of the Inland Valleys relies on interested
community members to be involved in the distribution of unrestricted
contributions to the Community Care Fund - deciding where the
money goes. United Way is actively seeking volunteers to serve
on Community Review Teams, which will evaluate applications
for program funding that have been received from United Way
member agencies, make a visit to agencies and then make funding
recommendations for the upcoming fiscal year.
Last year, over 80 local volunteers had the opportunity to learn
first hand about the critical problems facing our communities
and the programs provided by the United Way funded agencies
that are having an impact on these problems.
Local volunteers representing a diverse cross section from communities
within United Way of the Inland Valleys’ service area,
including Moreno Valley, Banning, Beaumont, Cabazon, Cherry
Valley, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Quail Valley, Wildomar,
Temecula/Murrieta, Perris Valley, Jurupa, Mira Loma, Rubidoux,
Glen Avon, Pedley, and Riverside are wanted. Volunteer orientation
will be provided.
For more information or to request a Volunteer Interest Sheet,
please call Elaine Crabtree or Jennifer Nery of United Way at
(951) 697-4712. Completed Volunteer Interest Sheets must be
turned in by February 9, 2006.
