UNITED WAY EXCEEDS GOAL
WITH RECORD CAMPAIGN TOTAL
March 17, 2005 (Riverside, California) The 2004 United Way
of the Inland Valleys Campaign concluded by exceeding the
goal set by the volunteer Campaign Cabinet. This year’s
campaign set a new record with $4,366,500 raised. This is
the tenth consecutive year that United Way of the Inland Valleys
has raised more than the previous year. This year’s
proceeds represent a 2.6% increase over the amount raised
in the 2003 campaign. Giving overall has increased 55% since
1995, more than any other California United Way.
Campaign Co-Chairmen Larry Rubio, CEO of Riverside Transit
Agency and Greg Brown, SBA Division, Banco Popular, concluded
the 2004 campaign with an Awards Luncheon at the Hap Arnold
Club at March ARB on Thursday, March 17, before almost 300
volunteers.
Rubio and Brown were ecstatic about the final, record breaking
number that culminated the year-long campaign effort. Particular
kudos were given to the hundreds of campaign coordinators
in companies and organizations that ran United Way campaigns.
Their effort “in the trenches” was the key to
success.
“Our great team of volunteers made this celebration
possible,” said Rubio. “It takes a lot of people
to raise over $4,000,000. The fact that we set a new record
means that even more people will be able to be helped by the
proceeds of this campaign.” Brown added, “Our
community should be proud of what they have accomplished and
how that money improves the lives of those less fortunate
in our communities.”
