PROFILE 2002 RELEASED AT UNITED WAY OF THE INLAND VALLEYS
PRESS CONFERENCE
September 25, 2002 (Riverside,
California)The wait is over! The Community Profile
2002 was premiered today at a press conference in Riverside.
Gary Asbury, Chair the Needs Assessment and Planning
Committee and Debbi Huffman Guthrie, Chairman of the
Board of Directors of United Way of the Inland Valleys together
with Raymond P. Humphrey, CEO of United Way of the
Inland Valleys and representatives of sponsoring organizations
released one of the most widely-used and valuable assets to
Riverside County.
Mayor Ronald O. Loveridege,
City of Riverside, says, "We, in the city government
applaud the release of Community Profile 2002. This
comprehensive report examines unmet health and social service
needs in Riverside County. It is a valuable resource for all
of us, whether we are in the public, private, or non-profit
sectors. I congratulate United Way of the Inland Valleys
for the important work in completing
The Community Profile 2002
holds vital information that identifies community needs, initiates
problem-solving strategies, and influences public policy.
This year-long needs assessment project provides the information
needed to focus public awareness on unmet needs and community
resources. The Community Profile 2002 is used, as a
tool for funding decisions of many organizations that provide
health and human services in Riverside County.
Debbi Huffman Guthrie, President
of Roy O. Huffman Roof Company and Chairman of the Board of
Directors United Way of the Inland Valleys adds,
"United Way of the Inland Valleys Board
of Directors remains committed to the coordination and facilitation
of this year-long project as a service that benefits residents
of the entire County of Riverside. We recognize that the Community
Profile 2002 is a tremendous value and we commend the
dedicated team of volunteer professionals who oversaw the
project."
A Community Partnership Committee
was developed from a diverse group of individuals strategically
selected to represent varying interests and populations in
Riverside County. The committee includes members from government,
the non-profit sector, the private sector, and education.
A project such as this comprehensive needs assessment would
not be possible without the support of the community. The
Community Profile 2002 project was co-sponsored by
Kaiser Permanente, Corona Regional Medical Center, Riverside
County Children and Families Commission,
The Community Foundation Serving
Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, and The Press-Enterprise.
United Way of the Desert, Central County United Way, United
Way of Blythe, and Corona-Norco United Way were actively
involved and contributed to the process. For more information
