GUIDANT
GOLF TOURNAMENT RAISES $50,000 FOR UNITED WAY
Temecula, CA--- (September 3,
2002) Guidant Corporation's third annual golf tournament held
August 19 at Temecula Creek Golf Course raised $50,000 for
United Way of the Inland Valleys, announced Donna Fults and
Dave Poling, co-chairs of the event. The event itself raised
$25,000 and Guidant's foundation matches any fundraising events
for United Way.
An increase of $15,000 over last
year's proceeds was due in part to being able to accept more
golfers because they switched venues from SCGA to Temecula
Creek, but the foremost reason is because Guidant had a tremendous
amount of support from their suppliers, local businesses and
employees.
"The success of the tournament
is due to the Guidant family of employees who volunteer so
much time and effort in producing this event, and the generosity
through sponsorships of local businesses and Guidant suppliers
throughout the United States and Japan, many of which attend
the event," said Fults. "Our players come from all over the
world, spending a minimum of four days here to golf in this
tournament. Not only does United Way benefit, but the community
benefits economically,"
The local sponsors of the event
were Burkey Machine and Tool, Pechanga Resort & Casino,
Paradise Chevrolet Cadillac, Toyota of Temecula Valley, Rancho
Physical Therapy, Norm Reeves Supergroup, and Southwest Healthcare
System. Prizes were donated by Temeku Hills Golf, Callaway
Vineyard & Winery, Temecula Creek Inn, Mimi's Café,
Maurice Printers and Kinko's.
