UNITED WAY OF
THE INLAND VALLEYS EXCEEDS GOAL
March 21, 2002 (Riverside, California)
Despite soft economic conditions, United Way of the Inland
Valleys announced a record-breaking amount raised for the
2001 campaign. Ralph Bender of LPL Financial Services and
the 2001 Co-Chair announced the campaign total of $4,125,000.
The total announced before more
than 200 attendees at a victory celebration luncheon held
in Harrison Hall at the Lake Perris Fairgrounds in Perris,
California was $25,000 over goal, representing a 3% increase
over the previous year.
The amount reported excludes nearly
$300,000 of September 11 (9/11) gifts and other one-time restricted
donations processed by the United Way through the 2001 campaign.
Campaign co-chairs Ralph Bender,
LPL Financial Services and Linda Itzen, American Express conveyed
deep appreciation for the extra degree of generous support
shown by the Western Riverside County community in a difficult
year.
In addition to the campaign announcement,
Target Stores and THORCalifornia received the
Corporate Community Award. Overall, nearly 100 organizations
and volunteers were honored for superior performance in the
implementation of giving programs at their work places.
United Way of the Inland Valleys
supports over 100 programs and services, serving residents
of Greater Riverside, Moreno Valley, Temecula, Banning, Beaumont,
Cherry Valley, Canyon Lake, Cabazon, Glen Avon, Jurupa, Lake
Elsinore, Mira Loma, Murrieta, Pedley, Rubidoux, Wildomar,
and Perris.
One in three Western Riverside
County residents are served by a United Way funded program
each year.
