2010 Day of Caring - Pass Region
The Pass Region Day of Caring started with the Beaumont Lions Club cooking and serving breakfast to over 160 volunteers before sending them off to complete 17 projects throughout Beaumont, Banning, and Cherry Valley.
Banning Mayor Bob Botts and Beaumont Mayor Brian DeForge both helped inspire the volunteers as they were getting ready to go out for the day. Other officials at the morning rally included Banning's Councilwoman Debbie Franklin, who is also a UWIV board member, Mayor Pro-tem Barbara Hanna, and City Clerk Marie Calderon.
United Way Day of Caring volunteer teams provided landscaping, porch building, cleaning walkways, painting, and carpeting. Some major home "makeovers" were performed for seniors, disabled veterans, and agencies such as Childhelp USA, Soroptimist House of Hope, and Noble Creek Community Center.
The pass area Day of Caring Committee included Jeanne Ramirez, Linda Hanley, Linda Phillips, Shameca Tankerson, Deborah Wright, Sue Palmer and Verita DeHesa.
The event ended at the Banning Stagecoach Days grounds for lunch was provided by Gramma's Country Kitchen provided lunches for all the volunteers.
